Country Town Head Estate Wedding

Town Head Estate colourful wedding

Emily Hill and Ross Scott from the picturesque Outgate, Ambleside chose to work with me back in February 2023. Emily clearly being organised planning their day and knowing exactly what they are looking for.
Being a country loving couple, outdoorsy, laidback and a good laugh, we stuck up a great connection for the offset.
Their pre-wedding portrait session was at their beautiful home with the company of the dogs (of course multiple) and donkeys. During this time, we laughed a lot, enjoyed the livestock, drank champagne and of course I photographed some natural moments.

The 1st July 2024 came around like a flash of light for us all, given it was a day we all looked forward to, we had a build up of good vibes and energy ready for their wedding day. Whilst the forecast was a typical Lake District Summers day, with overcast skies and rain showers, nothing was going to dampen Emily and Ross’ big day.

Country loving Emily wore her cowboy boots and was equipped for all conditions in absolute comfort. Her dress from Fellside Bride, Kendal suited this country styled colourful wedding and looked stunning. The men opted for a kilt attire and nothing looked out of place. Arriving in a red vintage car, as well as going for a cheeky spin, Ross was a very happy man.
The energy throughout the day was supported with the punchy bright colours, something that I haven’t seen as much of in the past 4 years. Although, I am very grateful we are all stepping away from the cream/white and green look.
I cannot tell you have fitting the florals were by Free Range Floristry, bright, colourful and country, combined with the rainbow confetti these made for delightful energetic film and photography.

Now lets talk about their perfect venue selection. Town Head Estate, that stretches down to the shore of Lake Windermere and hikes up towards Gummers How. From fully flowered gardens, enchanting woodland, beautiful Lakeside boathouse, right through to the stone finished, solid beam wedding barn, detailed finishes in their bathrooms (look up), not to mention the bridal suite set up. This venue is one that steals many hearts (including mine!)
Within the barn itself, Emma Jane events had the full package out which includes, festoon ceiling lighting, paper lantern décor, artificial foliage on beam ends, backdrop of drape curtains, taper candle centre pieces, and a whole host of marquee décor too!
A centre piece to the day for me was the wedding cake, surrounded by country florals welcoming everyone at the top of the stairs. Bramble Wild Bakery, leading the way in our creative industry.

The running of the day went very smoothly, with an early 11am ceremony, allowing plenty of time for all the antics of this wonderful Monday wedding. Dinky the dog, was a pixie eared cute ring bearer as Emily and Ross exchanged rings between a hand crafter broken arch of bright florals backed by Town Head Estates barn window.
With over 76 guests to entertain the fun didn’t stop there, with Malcolm Smith playing the bagpipes during various times of the day. Myself and Barry Best WN film productions had more than enough to work with.
Canapes kept everyone fuelled up ahead of a delicious meal by Karen Rhodes Catering. This is one of the few caterers in the Lake District I can say consistently provide outstanding catering without a hiccup.
Whilst we talk about hiccups though, smoke grenades – Emily ordered plenty. Only Emily ordered plenty of non-hand held fierce and firey flares. Obviously, I took one for the team and did a safety test ahead of anyone using them. All participating used the flares at their own risk, everyone sort of laughed, screamed and wholeheartly participated in Mr and Mrs Scotts vision. The photographs speak for themselves, but I’d never advise getting or using these smoke grenades again. I recommend EG grenade co. for handheld SAFE colourful grenades.

We ventured throughout Town Heads wonderful landscape between the weather, with calm and quiet moments for the couple at the pier, boathouse, gardens and greenhouse. Each and every locations around Town Head peaked with the bridal bouquet in hand. Somehow I gained an assistant photographer down at the boathouse, which to be fair, he didn’t do a bad job and even get a few of me at work. What a good laugh everyone was!
We had a short dry window for the ‘formal’ group shots as Emily and Ross didn’t want hours of posed photographs, inevitable as always this list did grow somewhat but we didn’t mess around, we were soon in for another beverage.

6.45pm appeared in a blink of an eye for both the guests and the vendors. Heading inside to cut that beautifully presented cake and their perfect first dance to ‘Beautiful Crazy, Luke Combs’, which is actually one of my all-time favourite country songs. Rolling straight into seriously energetic dancing thanks to Craig Howarth DJ-ing. Clearly the catering and beverages consumed throughout Emily and Ross’ day kept everyone on top form.

After their wedding day at Town Head Estate, Mr and Mrs Scott jetted off to Disneyland Florida, which I imagine is as bright and heart-warming as their wedding day.
