Photography is more than just capturing images; it's about preserving stories, emotions, and milestones that define a family's journey. As a photographer, I don’t just take pictures. It is important to me, I build relationships, becoming a trusted presence at some of life’s most precious moments. I wholeheartedly believe these genuine connections can make or break a photographers ability to document certain occasions in life.
Whilst I know many outstanding photographers in the wedding / portrait world, I also know many outstanding photographers who just don't enjoy working with people and struggle to 'work the room' and build authentic connections alongside 'people management'.
From the First Shoot to a Lifetime of Memories
Many of my clients come to me at the start of a big chapter in their lives. Take one of my long-time clients, for example. They first found me through Facebook and followed my work for a while before reaching out when they got engaged. Our first session together was their engagement shoot, and despite the unpredictable weather, we made it work - twice! Their trust in me from the beginning set the foundation for something special.
Now, seven years later, I have been there for almost every major milestone in their life. Their wedding, the adoption of their beloved dog, a maternity shoot, the arrival of their little one, first birthdays, family parties, and even a boudoir session.
Each session added another layer to their story, and through it all, I have been honoured to document their love, laughter, and growth.
I'm very much 'part of the family' now on occasions, meaning I 'fit in' more streamline than ever.

At events, I’m not just the photographer - I’m a familiar face who blends seamlessly into the celebrations, helping out where needed and keeping the atmosphere relaxed and fun. It makes every session feel less like a formal shoot and more like spending time with an old friend. Friends and family members are on first name terms with me, and enjoy chatting, alongside valuing my genuine approach to photography.
The connections grow wider, as family and friends, then, also invest into consistent coverage from me as their 'family photographer'. Where I repeat my niche process, understanding their family in order to document their lives together in the most authentic way.
Why Consistency Matters
Life is a collection of moments - some planned, some unexpected - but all equally important. Having a consistent family photographer means those moments are captured in a way that tells a seamless, beautifully cohesive story. Instead of a mix of different styles from various photographers over the years, families receive a visual timeline that feels natural, warm, and personal.
