A Wild Outback Wedding at Nukara Farm, Western Australia. A Rustic Barn Wedding Venue

A Wildly Beautiful Outback Wedding at Nukara Farm:

Ben & Amy Tie the Knot

As a wedding photographer, I’m lucky enough to witness all kinds of love stories — from wild and windswept elopements to polished Lake District Hotels.
But every now and then, a celebration comes along that truly imprints itself on your heart. Ben and Amy’s wedding at Nukara Farm in Nanson, Western Australia was exactly that — a soul-stirring, joy-drenched, and earthy raw expression of love, community, and creativity.
Yes, I was flown around the world for this special occasion!

A meaningful wedding Venue

With 200 guests, teepees, campers, bucket showers, and hand-crafted decor, this outback wedding was a labour of love in every sense. A DIY Dream at Nukara Farm Nukara Farm, located just outside Geraldton in Nanson WA 6532, is the epitome of a rustic Australian wedding venue. Surrounded by native bushland, towering gums, and sun-drenched red dirt trails (which clearly resonates with my photography style), it’s the perfect place for a Western Australia outdoor wedding that’s a little offbeat and a lot magical.

Ben and Amy chose Nukara Farm not only for its breathtaking setting, and flexibility but also because this is where their love story began. Their wedding wasn’t just an event — it was an experience, a handcrafted gathering brimming with personal touches. Amy described it best: “It was a labour of love from start to finish.”
With guests camping and glamping, bucket showers and minimal screen time, every inch of the space reflected their adventurous, down-to-earth spirit.
Myself and guests camped on-site beneath a canopy of stars (the best starry skies I've ever witnessed), and the evening buzzed with laughter, lantern light, and the gentle pulse of live music under the outback sky.

Wedding morning of calm...

The day began with a sense of excitement humming through the trees. Guests were already mingling over morning coffee and Crapes, while the children (and adults) explored the mini teepees and began blowing bubbles.
Ben and Amy's dedicated friends added final touches to the reception space, as Ben took a dip in Nukara Farms, Fox Dam, and Amy curated her vows.

The celebrations started with a grounding and calm yoga hour, under a canopy of trees - setting the stage for a relaxed and love fulled day ahead.

Bens big grin...

Amy and her bridesmaids got ready in the farm’s cabin, with laughter and calm energy flowing freely. Amy wore a simple yet elegant white gown that flowed effortlessly with her styled curls and relaxed bridal look. With a sweetheart neckline, strapless dress boasting a flowing soft skirt, her dress embodied timeless romance with a modern, unfussy twist.

She carried a bouquet filled with Australian florals and fresh pops of yellow, echoing the golden tones of the farm’s landscape and connecting with the warmth of the day.

Ben looked every bit the relaxed groom in a deep olive suit, offset with a crisp white shirt, no tie(!) and a cheerful boutonnière to match Amy’s flowers. His casual charm and massive grin never left his face all day - and who could blame him? Supported by his best men and women, he made a joyful entrance.

Warm Connected Ceremony...

Their ceremony took place beneath a sculptural wooden arbour framed with dried palms, wild blooms, and colourful bunting. Guests gathered on eclectic rugs benches, and chairs, forming a natural amphitheatre under the towering gums.

The ceremony was warm, heartfelt, and deeply personal, hosted by their very own yoga master — complete with laughter, tears, and a first kiss that had the whole crowd cheering. Bens Bridesmaids in shades of green, Amy’s bridesmaids wore buttery soft satin dresses in the perfect shade of champagne yellow — light enough to catch the late afternoon glow, yet rich enough to complement the rustic backdrop. Each bridesmaid carried a dainty bouquet of baby's breath, offering a delicate contrast to Amy’s bold warm flowers.

The styling was minimal yet completely on-point for the boho outback wedding theme. The girls walked calmly and full of joy; their dresses catching the light as they moved through the trees. With effortless smiles and that iconic bridesmaid camaraderie, they surrounded Amy with love and support that was genuinely felt by all.

The Flower Girls: Forest Fairies (that doubled up as even fancy dress fairy attire too) in Tulle Adding to the charm were the flower girls, dressed in sage green tulle dresses that gave serious forest-fairy vibes. Dancing down the aisle, hand in hand and twirling their way into everyone’s hearts. Their presence added an innocent sweetness to the already emotion-filled ceremony.

They were Ben and Amy's biggest cheerleaders.

The Décor: Bushland Meets Boho Festival

When the sun began to dip, the farm transformed into a festival-inspired wedding reception like no other. Think: floating cloud installations, disco balls glinting in the twilight, and hundreds of metres of hand-tied ribbon garlands in sunset shades of red, orange, and yellow.

Every corner of Nukara was used — mismatched chairs were set around communal wooden tables, which were filled with single stem verses and lemons off Nukara Farms own lemon tree. It was rustic, romantic, and riotously fun. In place of a traditional marquee, Ben and Amy used Nukara Farms outdoor stage space, surrounded with, hand crafted decor, fire pits, and fairy lights. Guests danced on the open-air floor until the stars came out, with fluffy clouds overhead and string lights twinkling like constellations.

A Venue that Embraces Nature Nukara Farm is ideal for couples looking for rustic wedding venues in WA that allow for total creative freedom.

It offers eco-friendly wedding options, a connection to nature, and room to breathe — literally and figuratively. There’s something uniquely grounding about celebrating a wedding in a place where the trees are older than you, where the dirt clings to your boots, and the horizon seems to stretch on forever. For Ben and Amy, this setting was more than just a backdrop. It was a co-creator in their story — an essential character in a weekend of celebration that will live on in the hearts of everyone present.

Golden Glow Portraits...

Sunset Portraits Through the Eucalyptus Trees As golden hour rolled in, I stole Ben and Amy away for some couples’ portraits among the towering eucalyptus. The light filtered through the leaves in soft, dappled patterns, bathing them in warm honey tones.
We then progressed up onto the hilltop for a glorious sunset, the pink and orange shades framing Mr and Mrs Jacksons love perfectly.
They were completely at ease — laughing, holding hands, swaying in that newlywed bubble that wraps around you like a secret. These quiet moments — just the two of them, surrounded by nature — were some of my favourites of the day. No posing, no pressure. Just genuine connection.

The Kind of Wedding That Lingers...

What stood out most about Ben and Amy’s wedding wasn’t just the styling or the location (though both were flawless). It was the heart behind it all. From the hand-sewn bunting to the homemade cocktails and the personally selected playing beneath the stars, everything about this wedding felt intentional. Guests were not just observers — they were participants, collaborators, co-creators of an event that felt more like a joyful weekend campout than a formal affair. Even the bucket showers (yes, real ones!) became a badge of honour, a shared adventure that guests laughed about long into the night.
